85 Habour Road, Warwick Parish, Bermuda

''Barrule' is a classic waterfront Bermuda house, located on Harbour Road in Warwick. The guest apartment takes up the entire ground floor of the house and is entirely private from the owners’ apartment upstairs (see below photo of house taken from the water). The owners are a fourth generation Bermudian family who have lived in the house for 35 years, and raised three children there. The guest apartment can accommodate up to 5 people.

'Barrule' has a perfect location in the central parishes of Bermuda and is on the “pink ferry route”. Darrell’s Wharf ferry stop is 100 yards down the road and from there it is a leisurely 10-minute ferry ride to the City of Hamilton. The grocery store is on Middle Road - a 10 minute walk. The bus service on Middle Road runs every 15 minutes (the Royal Naval Dockyard and the West End are 35 minutes by bus; Hamilton is 10 minutes by bus, and St. George’s and the East End 35 minutes beyond that). The South Shore beaches are a half hour walk from the house, or a 15 minute bus ride from the Hamilton bus terminal.

The apartment itself is large and comfortable, has a ‘Mediterranean’ ambience, and is richly decorated with ‘objets d’art’ and antiques. The master bedroom is large with a king-sized bed (with an option to be made into two single beds) and has windows and French doors opening directly onto the covered stone porch which overlooks the swimming dock and the harbour. The master bedroom has an ‘ensuite’ bathroom which is tiled from floor to ceiling with honey-coloured stone tile. The bathroom is luxuriously appointed with both a bath and a walk-in shower, as well as toilet, bidet and sink. It has a door leading directly to the garden (and the steps to the dock for your morning swim!). There is a large walk-in closet off the bathroom.

The living room is large enough to contain three couches, one of which is a pull-out sofa bed (single bed). There is a large, classic fireplace of Bermuda limestone for cozy winter evenings. A separate powder room (toilet/basin) off the living room is useful for any guests using the pull-out sofa.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, large fridge, microwave, and gas range with convection oven and has a full supply of crockery, cutlery, glasses and cookware. The dining room – integral with the kitchen – seats 6 comfortably at an antique dinner table – with views of the harbour from 3 windows.

There is a laundry room with full sized washer/dryer (a $10 charge per load) and iron/ironing board.

Our guests’ favourite place to sit and relax is on the covered stone porch, where there are comfortable rattan couches and chairs and an overhead fan. Between the house and the harbour itself is a lawn (for the exclusive use of the apartment guests), which runs the full length of the house. On the lawn are lounge chairs, a teak table and chairs for outside dining and barbecue.

There is an optional second bedroom, much smaller than the master bedroom, but with a queen-sized bed and ensuite bathroom (shower, toilet and sink). This second bedroom/bathroom is at the far end of the house from the master bedroom which allows complete privacy for both. The second bedroom and bathroom have the same stunning views of the harbour. There is an additional charge for the use of the second bedroom. (This bedroom is never rented out independently of the main apartment, so you won’t be sharing space with other paying visitors.)

There is cable TV and high speed internet. There is also a selection of books (novels and Bermuda history) in the living room bookshelf. The apartment has its own telephone (local calls only). There are overhead Hunter fans with wide wooden blades throughout the apartment. The nightly rate includes minimal air-conditioning in the bedroom (for use at night only). More extensive use of A/C or heat is available on request for an additional charge (due to the high cost of electricity in Bermuda). All sheets and towels are provided (changed weekly) – including swimming towels. A hairdryer is provided in both bedrooms.

- A 20% deposit is required upon making the reservation (bank draft or wire transfer - details will be given).

- If the reservation is cancelled prior to 30 days before the arrival date, the deposit will be returned less a $100 service charge and any bank costs.

- The balance of the full rental amount is required 30 days prior to arrival.

- If the reservation is cancelled within 30 days of arrival (for whatever reason) the rental payment is forfeit. (It is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance.)
