Helpful facts :
- Bermuda is in the Atlantic Ocean, north of the Caribbean. It is on the same latitude as the Carolinas, USA (see map). Flight time from New York is less than 2 hours and from London is about 6 1/2 hours.
- Bermuda is a group of islands joined by short bridges. It is a very small country of approximately 20 square miles. It takes little more than 1 hour to drive from end to end at 30 mph (50 kph). The modes of transport available for tourists are: rental scooter, taxi, ferry and bus.
- Taylor House is less than 15 minutes from Bermuda's only airport.
- Taylor House is located in St George's (see map). This area includes many popular tourist attractions. There are lovely beaches, great restaurants, museums, historic forts, and a golf course all within walking distance of Taylor House. All the well known shops in Bermuda have branches in St George's. In the summer months there are boat tours, water sports and fishing available in and near St George's.
- Buses run from St George's to Hamilton (Bermuda's capital town) at least every 30 minutes and the service is very reliable. The fare is $3.50, or less if you buy tokens or a "bus pass". It is recommended that you do buy tokens in advance, as change is not given on the bus.
- US dollars are equivalent to Bermuda dollars and can be freely used in Bermuda.
- Bermuda's climate is sub-tropical (see charts) The weather is consistently hot from May through October. During the winter season, although the weather can be unsuitable for tanning at the beach or for swimming, the temperatures are a welcome change for visitors from North America and Europe.
